What is Santerra, and why are you here? 
 

Santerra is the setting for the novel Sadfire, and other related short stories that take place there. The goal of 'Tales' is simple: this is a place for Nate to share his unpublished work for free with readers who want more stories from the world of Sadfire. This page is an ongoing portfolio that will be updated with new works whenever they are penned, edited, and fit for human consumption. 

So do you need to read the novel to understand these stories?

If so, then they would not be very good short stories. Nate is a firm believer in the old proverb espoused by the Santerran historian Pelirocles: "If it ain't workin', there's work to be done." (Paraphrased, of course). Improvement is constant, and any writer, published or unpublished, should seek feedback. At this fledgeling stage, any and all critique is both welcome and appreciated. Nate's info is below, and responses to questions or critique will be forthcoming. So if the Tales don't stand on their own merits, and you feel so inclined, feel free to say so! It all helps.
